McAfee - Goodbye, Old Friend

For years, rule #6 of my Computer Maxims has included McAfee as the virus scan of choice. My clients know my overt dislike for Norton, as it has become bloated and exorbitantly resource-intensive over the years. Well, McAfee has moved itself in that same direction. In an effort to be all things for all people, McAfee has become a resource hog and is no longer my recommendation for virus protection.

The good news is AVG from Grisoft. This is a sleek, fast and very thorough virus scanner. It protects your computer while not draining your resources. Good stuff. If you are not protected, you are infected. If you are using McAfee or (ugh) Norton, consider a switch to AVG.
